Well, Summer may be racing away but, as I write this, it’s also in full, blazing effect. The record-breaking temperatures outside have seen me decamp to an air-conditioned cafe to work! In this newsletter, we focus on some recent or upcoming changes at Mid Sussex Osteopaths, have a podcast to discuss in our ‘Recommendations’ section and a recipe to help keep you cool in these crazy atemperatures!
New staff members
By the time that you read this, Megan Cobbett will have joined us to supplement our team of Osteopaths. Being qualified in Osteopathy as well as Naturopathy, Megan will bring a broad range of skills with her and is well equipped to advise patients on nutrition and lifestyle factors that may be impacting them. She has a particular interest in advising and showing patients how to exercise and stretch to keep problems at bay. Read more here.
Megan has a good deal of experience to bring to us having worked at the Pusey practice for the past 2 years. She’ll be carrying on her work there whilst running clinics on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon and evening with us at the Dolphin.
And while we’re talking about new staff members, while he might not be ‘new’ having been with us for a few months now, a quick update on Leigh Smith.
Due to his excellent work, Sports Massage has really taken off at the Dolphin. Feedback on his treatments has been great to hear and to read on Google reviews that have been left for him. Whether you’re involved in sport or not, if you think you’d benefit from some deep soft tissue work, Leigh’s your man!
As we all know, the cost of living is increasing and shows no signs of stabilising. We are always loath to increase fees as we want to make treatment as accessible as possible for people whilst also being able to pay for the costs of running the business and earn an income.
After much consideration, it is clear that our current fees will have to increase but we have found a way to hopefully cushion this for those who might find this increase difficult. With effect from 1st September, the fees for Adam Fiske will increase to £60 for returning patients. The fees to see the other Osteopaths – Adam W, Emily and Megan – will remain at the current rate of £50. By staggering fees in this way, we hope that patients of Adam Fiske who might wish to continue at the current fee are able to continue treatment with us.
Please rest assured that any appointments booked up until the 1st of September (including for appointments after that date) will be at the current rate. This change will take effect for bookings made after that date.
Rather than a product or device, in this newsletter we want to promote Rangan Chaterjee’s podcast, ‘Feel Better, Live More’. This has been on our playlist for a few years now. You may well recognise Rangan from his tv series or books but if not, he is a GP who promotes a holistic approach to health and well being. His podcast features chat and discussion with experts in all aspects of health and well-being. Sleep, exercise, diet…I can’t think of an aspect of health and well-being that hasn’t been covered! Check it out here.
We’ve been bombarded recently with some pretty common sense advice on how to keep cool this Summer so no need to go there again. Instead, try one of these: the simplest recipe for home-made lemonade I’ve ever come across, refreshing and super tasty!
- 3 unwaxed lemons, roughly chopped
- 140g caster sugar
- 1l cold water
Put the lemons, sugar and half the water into a food processor and blend until the lemon is finely chopped. A hand blender works just as well.
Strain the mixture using a sieve using a bowl, press through the juice. Then top up with the remaining water and serve with ice and a slice!
Whatever the Summer holds for you – staycation or holidaying abroad – we wish a healthy and happy Summer.
